In 2015, Founder, Mark Solan, signed up for a white collar boxing event to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of his Mother and Grandmother who both sadly lost their battle with cancer.
Mark had recently turned 42 (the same age his Mother was diagnosed terminally ill with cancer) and set himself a fundraising target of £1,000. The event ended up raising a huge £21,315 for Cancer Research UK.
Excited and inspired by his ability to raise such an incredible amount of money, Mark wanted to support more individuals and families affected by cancer in the North East.
The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust was launched in 2016 to help those touched by cancer.
“Never in a million years did I think I could raise over £20,000 for Cancer Research UK. And when I did I thought wow, what if I could do that for families in the North East who like me, have had their lives turned upside down by cancer? And so the Trust was born.”
