Francesca’s Story

24 August 2026

On 14th February 2025, Francessca’s life changed forever when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

As a single parent, working full-time and renovating a house, life was already incredibly busy. Francessca had always considered herself a positive person and initially tried to stay strong, but as chemotherapy began, the reality of what she was facing started to take its toll.

Thankfully, she wasn't alone.

Her mum, friends and the Team Solan family were there to support her through some of the most difficult moments of her journey.

“Team Solan always have something going on which I can attend from lunches, flower arranging, mindful meditation, yoga and beauty therapy. These moments gave me something to look forward to and helped me feel like myself again during an incredibly difficult time.”

For Francessca, those moments of connection became an important part of getting through treatment. They gave her something to look forward to and, even briefly, allowed her to feel like herself again.

Then, on 8th November 2025, Francessca faced another devastating loss.

Her mum passed away.

“I felt like my whole world had come crashing down. I was already fighting cancer, and losing my mum was a heartbreak I never imagined having to face.”

Once again, Team Solan was there.

Their kindness and continued support helped Francessca through another incredibly painful chapter. When her mum passed away, the family asked for donations to Team Solan instead of flowers.

“It felt so right to turn such a painful loss into something that could help other people going through their own difficult journeys.”

In June 2026, Francessca finally finished chemotherapy. It was also her 42nd birthday, so she decided to celebrate both milestones in a very special way.

She organised a charity event to raise money for Team Solan – the charity that had supported her throughout her own journey.

The result was an incredible day filled with laughter, memories and more than £1,300 raised to help Team Solan continue supporting others.

“We had an absolute blast and raised over £1,300.”

Francessca’s journey has been filled with moments of fear, sadness and exhaustion, but also with love, laughter and memories she will treasure.

“My journey has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. I am still coming to terms with everything that has happened over the past 18 months. There have been moments of fear, sadness and exhaustion, but we have also managed to have a lovely time and make memories.”

Despite everything she has faced, Francessca has found a way to turn her own experience into something positive – giving back to the charity that stood beside her when she needed it most.

“To my mum, my friends, my family and everyone at Team Solan – thank you. Thank you for your continuous support, for being there when I needed you most, and for helping me find little moments of happiness and hope when life felt overwhelming.”

And now, Francessca hopes the money raised will help Team Solan be there for others, just as they were there for her.

“I hope the money we have raised will help Team Solan continue to be there for other people and families who need that same support.”

Francessca’s story is a powerful reminder that even during the darkest chapters, there can still be moments of happiness, hope and togetherness – and that no one should have to face cancer alone.
